Deactivate or reactivate a container

Retire a broken or mislaid pallet or tote, and bring it back under the same barcode when it turns up or is repaired.

In short

Empty the container, then in Stock Containers › Containers select the arrow beside it, Deactivate and Confirm. To bring it back, select Reactivate and Confirm.

Before you start

You need to be a Warehouse Operative, a Floor Supervisor, a Warehouse Manager or an Admin. If you don't see Deactivate, ask a Warehouse Manager.

Only an empty container can be deactivated, so unpack its stock first. Its Items Held must be 0.

Move it out of its location first if you'll want to use the location for something else. An inactive container stays where it stands and can't be moved until it is reactivated.

Steps

Deactivate a container

  1. Go to Stock Containers › Containers and find the container by its barcode.
  2. Select the arrow beside it, then Deactivate.
  3. Select Confirm. Active changes to a cross, and only View, Print Label and Reactivate are left.

If it still holds stock, Stockist refuses and says how many lines it holds:

The Stock Container [PAL-000002] still holds 2 inventory item(s) and cannot be deactivated until it is emptied.

Reactivate a container

  1. In Stock Containers › Containers, open the filters, set Status to Inactive only and select Apply filters.
  2. Select the arrow beside it, then Reactivate.
  3. Select Confirm. It is back in service, open and empty, under the same barcode.

Reactivating also opens a container that was closed at the dock, once it is empty. Deactivate it and reactivate it to use it again.

What happens next

An inactive container keeps its barcode for good: no other container ever gets it. Labels already on it still scan, and the Rapid Scanner shows it as not active.
