Turn on Printing for your team, sign the print client in on a computer that reaches your printers, and see your printers in Stockist.
In short
Open Team Settings and, under Printing, select Turn on Printing. Sign the PrintNode client in with the sign-in shown, on a computer that reaches your printers. Its printers then appear in the section.
Before you start
You need to be an Admin. If you don't see Printing in Team Settings, ask an Admin.
Have to hand a computer on your network that can reach your printers. It can run Windows, Mac, Linux or a Raspberry Pi, and stays on while the floor works. Choosing hardware for Stockist says what else to buy.
Stockist runs the print account for you, so you don't sign up with PrintNode. In the public demo Turn on Printing can't be used, and the section says:
Printing can't be turned on in the demo.
Steps
Turn on Printing
- Open Team Settings and find Printing.
- Select Turn on Printing. The section says "Printing is on." and shows the Print client sign-in, an API key.
- Copy the sign-in now. Stockist doesn't keep it, so it is never shown again.
- Select Download the PrintNode client and install it on the computer that reaches your printers.
- Sign the PrintNode client in with the API key you copied.
See your printers
- Under Printing, find Print computers and printers. Each print computer shows Connected or Not connected, with its printers under it.
- Check each printer shows Online. An offline one shows when it was last online, and one taken off the print computer shows Gone.
- If a printer you added isn't listed, select Look for printers. Otherwise Stockist looks every minute.
Until a print computer is signed in, the section says:
No print computer is signed in yet. Install the PrintNode client on a computer that can see your printers and sign it in; its printers appear here within a minute.
Make a new sign-in
Make a new sign-in if the old one is lost or someone outside your team has seen it.
- Under Printing, select Make a new sign-in, then Confirm. The old sign-in stops working at once, and nothing prints until the print client has the new one.
- Copy the new Print client sign-in and sign the PrintNode client in with it.
The section shows who made the last sign-in, and when.
Turn off Printing
- Under Printing, select Turn off Printing, then Confirm. Nothing prints to your printers, and stations print in the screen's browser instead.
- To start again, select Turn on Printing. The print client keeps its sign-in, so no new one is shown.
What happens next
Your printers are now Station Printers. A Warehouse Manager chooses one for each document under Prints on in each station's Station Set-up. Each document then prints there with no print window.
