Set up a station screen
- How-to
- Warehouses
- Who can do this: Admin, Warehouse Manager, Floor Supervisor
- Checked on 2 November 2026
Set up each Pack Station and QA Station in a warehouse, with its name, its Location and how its documents print.
In short
Go to Warehouses › Stations and select Set up a station, then fill in its name, Location and printing. On the station's screen, select your avatar at the top right, then Link this screen, and choose the station.
Before you start
You need to be an Admin or a Warehouse Manager to set up, change or remove a station. A Floor Supervisor can link a screen to a station that is already set up. If you don't see Set up a station, ask a Warehouse Manager.
Each Pack Station needs its own Location of the type Pack Station in the same warehouse. If it has none yet, add the location first.
Steps
Set up a station
- Go to Warehouses › Stations and select Set up a station.
- Choose the Warehouse and the Kind: Pack Station or QA Station. You can't change either later.
- Enter a Display name of up to 50 characters, such as
Bench 1orQA 1. No other station in the warehouse can have it. - For a Pack Station, choose its Pack Station Location, such as
COL-DS-PACK-01. The list leaves out Locations another station already has. - For a QA Station, choose a Default Quarantine Location for damaged units, such as
COL-QA-QA-01. Without one, a Supervisor Call from that station can't say where the QA Checker is. After Fail, they scan one instead. - For a Pack Station, under Printing, set the Carrier label and the Packing slip. For each, choose its Prints on, Paper (6x4 label or A4 sheet) and Copies (1 to 10).
- Select Create. The station shows on the Stations page under its warehouse, with its place and printing.
Both documents start on a 6x4 label, 1 copy, printing on This screen's browser. The carrier label's paper is the size the order's labels are booked at. A 6x4 packing slip has the same content as the A4 one, in one column.
Change a station
- Go to Warehouses › Stations and find the station under its warehouse.
- In its row, select Edit.
- Change its Display name, its Location or its printing.
- Select Save changes.
A station keeps its kind and warehouse. To move it, remove it and set up another in its place.
Remove a station
- Go to Warehouses › Stations and find the station.
- In its row, select Remove, then Confirm.
Its display name and Location are free for another station. Nothing on the books changes.
Link a screen to its station
Do this on the screen at the bench or QA table itself.
- Sign in on the screen.
- Select your avatar at the top right, then Link this screen. The page lists your stations, warehouse by warehouse.
- Select the station this screen is. The screen opens on that station.
From then on, the screen's sign-in page shows the station's name, such as "Bench 1 · Trentside Logistics". Whoever signs in there lands on the station.
In the public demo, anyone on Trentside's staff can link a screen, so you don't set a station up first. Colwick already has Bench 1, Bench 2, Bench 3 and QA 1. In your own team, only an Admin, a Warehouse Manager or a Floor Supervisor can link one.
A station has one screen. If the list says a station is on another screen, linking it here moves it. The old screen then says:
This screen is no longer Bench 1
Clearing the screen's browser also unlinks it, but the station stays set up. Link the screen again to put it back.
When a screen isn't linked
A linked screen's menu shows only its own kind of station. On a screen that isn't linked, the menu shows Pack Station and QA Station, each to whoever may use it. They and the station page say:
This screen isn't linked to a station yet
A Warehouse Operative is asked to fetch a Warehouse Manager or Floor Supervisor. They see Link this screen there and can link it from that page.
Unlink a screen
Admin and Warehouse Manager only: do this from any computer, to retire a screen.
- Go to Warehouses › Stations and find the station.
- In its row, select Unlink screen, then Confirm. The screen says it is no longer that station, and the station stays as it is.
Removing a station unlinks its screen too.
Print on a Station Printer
Once an Admin turns on Printing, Prints on also lists your team's Station Printers. Each one shows whether it is online. A document set to a Station Printer prints there the moment the station asks, with no print window.
If a printer is taken off the print computer, the Stations page says it has gone. While Printing is off, it says so. Either way, that document prints in the screen's browser until you choose another printer or Printing is back on.
Printing is always off in the public demo, so the demo's benches print in the screen's browser.
Print in the screen's browser
When Prints on is This screen's browser, each document prints from the station's own browser. Chrome or Edge run with the --kiosk-printing switch prints it at once. It uses the printer the computer is set to use. Any other browser opens its print window for each copy.
To print with no print window, on the station's computer:
- In the computer's printer settings, choose the station's printer as the one it uses.
- Add
--kiosk-printing, after a space, to the end of the target of the shortcut that starts Chrome or Edge. - Close every Chrome or Edge window, then start it from that shortcut and open Stockist.
This reaches one printer per screen, and a tablet can't do it. For a bench with two printers, or one run from a tablet, choose a Station Printer instead.
If a print fails, the station says why and offers Try again, Print in browser or Later. The packing or labelling it was for is already done.
What happens next
People at the station sign in on its screen and change its settings there: see Work at a station screen.
The Stations page lists every station by warehouse, with its kind, its place and how each document prints. Its Screen column shows who linked the station's screen and when, and when the screen was last seen. You can filter it by Warehouse or Kind. Everyone on your staff can see the list, but only Warehouse Managers and Admins can change it.
