Know which screens, stands, scanners, printers and print computer to buy for the Rapid Scanner and each station in your warehouse.

In short

Each person on the floor needs a handheld or phone for the Rapid Scanner. Each Pack Station and QA Station needs a touch display or tablet and a barcode scanner. A Pack Station also needs a label printer.

What each place needs

Where Screen Also
Anywhere on the floor A rugged handheld with a scan trigger, or a phone, in portrait Nothing else
Each Pack Station A 15 to 22-inch touch display, or a 10 to 13-inch tablet A barcode scanner, a 6x4 label printer, and an A4 printer if your packing slips print on A4
Each QA Station A 15 to 22-inch touch display, or a 10 to 13-inch tablet A barcode scanner
Each Inbound Station A large touch display A barcode scanner

Each station has one screen, set up once as a Station Set-up. A second screen at the same bench is a second station.

Screens and stands

The Pack Station and QA Station are laid out to be worked at arm's length. On a 15 to 22-inch display the Pack Station shows three columns: the tote, the parcels and the client's rules. On a 10 to 13-inch tablet it shows two, with the client's rules behind a tile.

Every button at a station is at least 64 by 64 pixels, so it works with gloves on. Choose a landscape touch display on a stand or wall arm. A display without touch works too, because every step also has a scan or a number key.

Scanners

Any barcode scanner that types what it scans, followed by Enter, works at a station. USB and Bluetooth scanners set up as a keyboard do this.

Printers

A Pack Station prints carrier labels and packing slips, each on a 6x4 label or an A4 sheet. Both start on 6x4, so a bench with one 6x4 label printer prints everything on it.

Stations print in one of two ways:

  • Straight to your printers. An Admin turns on Printing. Your printers then show as Station Printers, and each document prints with no print window. This works from a tablet too.
  • In the screen's browser. Each document opens the print window, unless Chrome or Edge is set up to print without one. Then it reaches only one printer per screen.

Printing straight to your printers needs one computer on your network that can reach them. It runs the print client on Windows, Mac, Linux or a Raspberry Pi. Leave it switched on while the floor works. One computer can serve every printer it can reach.
