Deactivate, reactivate or delete a product
- How-to
- Products
- Who can do this: Admin, Warehouse Manager, Account Manager
- Checked on 27 October 2026
Stop new orders for a discontinued product, bring it back, or delete a product added by mistake.
In short
To stop a product being ordered, select Actions, then Deactivate, in its row on Products › Products. Delete a product only if it was added by mistake and has never held stock.
Before you start
You need to be an Admin, a Warehouse Manager or an Account Manager. If you don't see Deactivate, ask an Admin.
Decide first
- Deactivate rather than delete. A deactivated product keeps its stock, history and SKU, and you can bring it back.
- Deleting can't be undone. Stockist doesn't check the product for stock or orders first. Before you delete, check its Available and Reserved columns both show 0.
Steps
Deactivate a product
- Go to Products › Products.
- In the product's row, select Actions, then Deactivate.
- Select Confirm. Its Active column changes from a tick to a cross.
Reactivate a product
- On Products › Products, select Filter. Choose Inactive only under Status, then select Apply filters.
- In the product's row, select Actions, then Reactivate.
- Select Confirm. Its Active column changes back to a tick.
Delete a product
- On Products › Products, in the product's row, select Actions, then Delete.
- Select Confirm. The product leaves the list.
What happens next
New orders naming a deactivated product's SKU or SKU Aliases are held as Unknown product. Orders already taken in and stock already stored don't change.
When you reactivate it, orders held as Unknown product on its codes are checked again, and their holds clear. A deleted product's SKU and barcodes are free for a new product of the client.
