- Checked on 27 October 2026
Add a client's product with its SKU, size, weight and barcodes, say whether it is tracked by lot or serial number, and add its SKU Aliases.
In short
Go to Products › Products, select New Product, choose the client and enter the product's SKU and Name. Add its size, weight and barcodes, then select Create.
Before you start
You need to be an Admin, a Warehouse Manager or an Account Manager. If you don't see New Product, ask an Admin.
The client must be added already. Have its product list to hand: each product's code, name, size in millimetres, weight in grams and barcodes.
Decide first
- The SKU. Use the client's own code, exactly as its shop and Purchase Orders send it, such as
HB-LAV-BALM-50. Orders and scans find the product by it, and no two of the client's products can share one. - Lot or serial tracking. Turn it on before the product's first delivery. The dock asks for lot numbers and expiry dates, or serial numbers, only for products tracked when the stock arrives.
Steps
Add the product
- Go to Products › Products and select New Product.
- Choose the Client, then enter the SKU and Name. Add a Description if you like.
- If the product belongs in one of the client's Product Groups, choose them in Product Groups.
- Turn on Lot-Tracked for stock with lot numbers and expiry dates. Turn on Serial-Tracked when each unit has its own serial number.
- Turn on Hazardous Goods for hazardous stock, such as lithium batteries. It can then be stored only in hazard compliant locations and containers.
- Under Dimensions & Weight, enter the Width (mm), Length (mm), Height (mm) and Weight (g) of one unit.
- Under Barcodes, enter the EAN Barcode, UPC Barcode or Warehouse Barcode printed on it.
- Select Create. The product shows in the Products list.
If Stockist refuses the product, such as for a SKU the client already uses, the form closes without saving. Select New Product again and correct it.
To change a product later, select Actions, then Edit, in its row. Change what you need and select Save changes.
Add a SKU Alias
A SKU Alias is another code the client uses for the product, such as the code its online shop sends.
- Admin or Account Manager only: in the product's row, select Actions, then Add SKU Alias.
- Enter the code in SKU Alias and select Submit. It shows in the product's SKU Aliases column.
A code that is already one of the client's SKUs or SKU Aliases is refused:
[code] is the SKU of [product], so it cannot be a SKU Alias.
The form stays open so you can correct the code. To take an alias away, select Actions, then Remove SKU Alias. Choose it in SKU Alias to remove and select Submit.
Cases and outers
If the product also comes in cases or outers, such as a case of 12, add them as Product Formats with Add Product Formats.
What happens next
The product can now go on Purchase Orders and be received. The dock and the Rapid Scanner find it by its SKU or barcodes. The client's people see it under Products.
An order line for a product with no weight is held as Missing details:
Line [line]: [code] has no weight. Set it on the product.
Enter the weight and save. The hold clears by itself, as do Unknown product holds on a code you add as a SKU Alias.
