Know the checks Stockist makes before stock or a container goes into a location or container, so you can tell why a move is refused.
In short
Before any stock or container moves, Stockist checks the place can take it. It must be in use, big enough, strong enough, safe for hazardous goods and allowed to mix. If any check fails, nothing moves and the message gives every reason.
When Stockist checks
Fitment Validation runs every time stock goes somewhere:
- loose stock into a location, when you receive it, move it or unpack it;
- stock into a container, when you pack it or receive it straight into the container;
- a whole container into a location, when you move it.
All the checks run together, so one refusal lists every problem at once.

The checks
| Check | What Stockist asks |
|---|---|
| In use | Is the location active, not under maintenance, allowed to take stock and not waiting for a count after a short pick? |
| Size | Does one unit, or the container's outer size, fit the location in some way round? Does all of it fit the location's volume? Into a container, does one unit fit inside the Container Type? |
| Weight | Does the total stay within the location's maximum weight, or the Container Type's Max Payload? A container counts at its tare weight plus everything in it. |
| Hazardous goods | Hazardous goods go only into a hazard compliant location, or a hazard compliant Container Type in a hazard compliant location. A compliant place takes anything. |
| Mixing | Does the location's Mixing Policy, or the Container Type's, allow this product or client beside what is already there? A location's policy covers the stock in every container in it too. |
Stockist checks only what it knows. A location with no size set takes stock of any size, and one with no maximum weight takes any weight.
An example
Kestrel Audio's power banks are hazardous goods. They are packed on a hazard compliant pallet, HZP-000001, in the hazardous goods cage at COL-HZ-HZ-A1. Moving that pallet to the pallet racking at COL-PR-A-05-B-1 is refused, because the racking isn't hazard compliant. An empty HZP pallet holds nothing hazardous, so it can go there.
The weight limit can be lifted
A Weight Override lets a Floor Supervisor or above go over a weight limit on purpose. They turn on Override the weight limit. It lifts the weight check alone. Size, hazardous goods and mixing are always checked, and nobody can override them.
What to do about each refusal is in Stock or a container won't go into this location.
