What each part of the Rapid Scanner shows, what its colours, shapes and words mean, and what each scan sound and buzz tells you.
In short
This lists what the Rapid Scanner shows and what its results look, sound and feel like. Use it when a screen, sound or buzz on the floor isn't clear.
The parts of the screen
| Part | Where | What it shows |
|---|---|---|
| Header | Top | Your name, the warehouse, the zone chip and Menu. While you pick, count or return stock, a second row names the task, such as "Picking PCK-COL-000005 · 1 of 2". |
| Zone chip | In the header | Your Working Location's zone, such as "Zone PF", or "No zone". Select it to set another zone by scanning a location in it. |
| Instruction card | Under the header, or under the question panel while a question is open | What to do next, verb first in the largest words, such as Scan where it goes, with the code to scan in a yellow box when there is one. The scan field and the last result are in the same card. |
| Corner notice | Top corner of the card | Whether your next scan will land: Ready, Checking or Answer first, or a dashed orange notice when the cursor has left the scan field. |
| Scan field | In the card | Labelled Scan or type a code. The cursor goes back to it after every scan, choice and task. |
| Question panel | Under the header, above the instruction card | A question Stockist needs answered, with numbered choices, number keys or a note field. Cancel backs out. Once you answer it, the screen goes back to its top. |
| Cards and tiles | Under the instruction card | What you scanned, and numbered tiles for its tasks. A dashed tile isn't offered yet and says why. |
| Menu | Header | Home, Clear Working Location, Supervisor Call, Help: the Rapid Scanner screen and Close the scanner. |
The home screen
The scanner opens on Scan anything, with numbered tiles for the work waiting for you. You see only the tiles your Team Role can use.
| Tile | Key | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Next List | 1 | Takes your next Pick List: see Pick with Next List. It says how many orders wait. |
| Location Counts | 2 | Starts a Location Count waiting at your warehouse, or says "Nothing to count": see Count a location. |
| Return to Stock | 3 | Starts the next Return to Stock task: see Return stock to a shelf. |
| This session | 4 | Lists what you have done since you signed in, such as "Since 09:00". |
This session
This session lists your own work since you signed in, newest first, up to the last 20 lines, with the time of each. It shows what you did on any screen, not only on the scanner:
- containers moved, and stock moved, packed or unpacked;
- units picked into totes, short picks and parked lists;
- locations counted;
- stock marked damaged, and made Available again by its Undo;
- units returned to stock;
- Supervisor Calls you raised and closed.
Select a line to open what it names, such as the tote or location. Back returns to the list. Your full history stays on the office screens.
The corner notice and the card's border
| Corner notice | Border | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Ready | Solid | The cursor is in the scan field. Scan. |
| Checking | Solid | Stockist is answering your last scan. "Checking +2" means 2 more scans wait their turn, in order. |
| Answer first | Solid | A question is open. Answer it, or select Cancel, before scanning on. |
When the border turns dashed orange, the cursor has left the scan field and a scan would be lost. The corner notice says:
Tap to scan
Select the card once to bring the cursor back.
Number keys
While the scan field is empty, the keys 1 to 9 pick the tile or choice with that number. When you have typed something in the scan field, the keys type into it instead.
Results
Every scan's result shows on the card's result line, never as a pop-up. Each kind has its own colour, shape and word, so it reads without colour too.
| Result | Shape | Means | Sound | Buzz |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Accepted | Circle | Done as scanned. | Two notes up | 1 short buzz |
| Check | Triangle | Done, but look at what it says. | One note twice | 2 short buzzes |
| Refused | Square | Not done. The line says why and what to do. | Two low notes down | 2 long buzzes |
| Question | Hexagon | Stockist needs an answer before going on. | Three notes up | 3 short buzzes |
| Already done | Diamond | Scanned before, so nothing was added. | One soft note | A light tick |
| Information | Ring | Something to know, such as a summary card. | None | None |
These sounds and buzzes are your Scan Feedback. You can turn them down or off in Set your scan sound and vibration. The screen always shows the result.
No signal
If a scan can't reach Stockist, the result line says:
No signal: scan not sent
It lists every scan not sent, in order, and plays Refused. Nothing is sent until you select Send again, which plays Accepted when the scans get through.
Result actions
Some results carry one action beside them:
| Action | When | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Undo | After a container move, packing or unpacking, a loose stock move, or Mark damaged | Puts it back as it was. It goes when you scan or start another task. |
| Open | When a scan names something other than the step expects, such as "Open TOT-000214" | Leaves the step and shows what you scanned. |
| Print again | After a label prints | Prints the same label again. |
