Move loose stock to another location
- How-to
- Inventory
- Who can do this: Admin, Warehouse Manager, Floor Supervisor, Warehouse Operative
- Checked on 30 October 2026
Move a line of loose stock from one location to another on the Rapid Scanner or at a desk, after Stockist checks the new location has room for it.
In short
On the Rapid Scanner, scan the location, select Move loose stock, scan each unit that goes (or type how many), then scan the new location.
Before you start
You need to be a Warehouse Operative, a Floor Supervisor, a Warehouse Manager or an Admin. If you don't see Move loose stock, ask a Warehouse Manager.
This moves Loose Inventory only. For stock packed in a container, move the container or unpack the stock.
On the scanner you move as many units as you scan or type, so part of a line can stay. At a desk the whole line moves.
Steps
On the Rapid Scanner
- Open the Rapid Scanner from the top bar (F2 at a desk). Scan the location the stock is in, such as
COL-PF-P03B3. - Select Move loose stock. With one product loose there, the instruction says Scan each one. With several, it says Scan the product first.
- Scan the product once for each unit that goes. The card counts them, such as "Counted 3 of 30", and the instruction says Scan where it goes. If more than one line of it is loose there, Stockist first asks Which of them?: select one.
- If the labels won't scan, select Type how many instead and enter the number. It is recorded as a Keyed Quantity, with your name.
- Scan the location it goes to. The result line says what moved and where, and how many stay behind. If it can go to your Working Location, a tile after Type how many names it: select it instead of scanning. It isn't offered until you have counted one.
If you scanned a product first instead, select its line and then Move to a Location: you then scan each unit and the new location the same way.
If you moved the wrong stock, select Undo beside the result before your next scan.
At a desk
- Go to Inventory › Inventory Items and search for the SKU.
- Select the arrow beside the line of stock, then Move to Location.
- Choose the Location and select Move.
Quarantined stock
Quarantined stock can only go to a Quarantine Location. On the scanner, any other location is refused and the result line says why; at a desk, only Quarantine Locations are offered. To put it back on a shelf, release it from quarantine first. If no location will take it, see Quarantined stock only goes to a Quarantine Location.
If Stockist refuses the move
Stockist checks the new location has room for the stock and allows it: its size, weight, hazardous goods and Mixing Policy. If not, nothing moves and the scanner's result line, or the message at a desk, says why. Stock or a container won't go into this location explains each reason.
At a desk, Floor Supervisors, Warehouse Managers and Admins also see Override the weight limit. Turn it on only to go over the location's weight limit on purpose: it lifts no other check.
What happens next
The stock is loose in its new location. The Rapid Scanner and Inventory › Inventory Items show it there at once, and the Loose Inventory Move keeps its status and lot.
